Nature is diverse, and no two brains are alike.
Some people’s nature may be even more colorful. ADHD, autism, and their co-occurrence, popularly called AuDHD, are diagnostical descriptions of the differences in our “user interfaces”, and the difficulties these pose. However, a diagnosis – or a lack thereof – doesn’t say much about you. Your abilities, rhythm, and ways of processing information and emotions are always individual.
If your traits are at conflict with societal norms, it can feel really painful, but it doesn’t mean you are abnormal or alone. There is not just one correct way to perceive, communicate, and live. Neurodiversity is biodiversity. It has evolutionary purposes. Our vulnerabilities and strengths tend to be intertwined.
Acknowledging and understanding your traits is important both in life and at the psychologist’s, because they create the framework for meaningful interaction and work.

Art is often not just a profession, but a whole way of living and perceiving. An artist’s creative ability to communicate meanings and experiences is a great resource – although way too often, underappreciated – for both the artist and others.
As a career, art can be profoundly meaningful, inspiring, and rewarding, but it can also be exhausting in many ways. Creating your own path and persistently walking it, the pressures of communal and societal positions and the audience, as well as the personal nature of the work can bring about psychological challenges, uncertainty, and loneliness.
Mielenlaulu supports artists in navigating the challenges of their professional and inner life. Creativity is a vital force that carries us through life. We need to cherish it.

Consciousness means the capacity to experience. It’s like a space where thoughts, feelings, and sensory information meet and rub against each other, creating the subjective perception of the self and the world.
Examining consciousness gives room to move when the mind takes over.
Non-ordinary states of consciousness can be induced by, e.g., psychoactive substances and medicines, intense meditation and other spiritual practices, as well as shocking events, extreme stress or emotion. These states stop us on our tracks and heighten our sensitivity on many levels. They can force us to recalibrate our beliefs about the world and ourselves, sometimes faster than we feel ready for.Powerful experiences can sometimes throw us off balance. Even a positive transformation can feel like a life crisis. However, it’s possible to support stability through all kinds of experiences and help their integration into growth and self-awareness.
If your consciousness intrigues or worries you, Mielenlaulu offers confidential, professional support without fear of stigma. Help if available for, e.g., psychedelic integration, experiences arising from meditation, and altered states of consciousness related to individual sensitivities and neurodivergence, such as depersonalization and derealization. Don’t stay alone. Sharing your inner reality is hard, but it really helps. -
You can turn to Mielenlaulu with all kinds of concerns and reflections, big or small. There are no taboos and nothing to be ashamed of. Matters of, e.g., emotional life, personality, sex, addictions, or body image are explored with you confidentially, with respect, and always at your own pace.
